Punta Cana – With an initial investment exceeding $600 million in its first phase, the Spanish company CLERHP Estructuras, through its local subsidiary Ingeniería y Estructuras del Caribe (INECAR), is developing the ambitious Larimar City & Resort project in Punta Cana, conceived as the first resort city in the Caribbean.
The project, which will be deployed in six phases, includes the construction of more than 2,200 apartments in the first phase within the overall project area of 3.6 million square meters. The initiative integrates residences, shops, medical services, educational centers, and recreational spaces, with the goal of creating a self-sufficient city in the country’s main tourist destination.
Juan Andrés Romero, President of CLERHP, defined the project as “a personal and professional legacy and dream” that seeks to consolidate an innovative urban model. “It’s a densely populated city with tall buildings and multiple services, but with the lifestyle of a resort, surrounded by nature, pedestrian walkways, and sustainable mobility options like cycling,” he stated.
Guarantees and Transparency for Investors
Romero emphasized that Larimar City & Resort offers a guarantee scheme unique in the region, providing security to investors.
“CLERHP is a company listed on BME Growth (Madrid Stock Exchange), which implies rigorous oversight. Our financial statements are public, we are audited by one of the most prestigious international firms, and we are required to report any relevant events within a maximum of 72 hours,” he noted.

Economic and Social Impact
He noted that the development of Larimar City & Resort will have a significant impact on job creation and economic revitalization in the eastern region of the country.
“CLERHP is a group with more than a decade of international experience in Europe and Latin America. Today we are committed to the Dominican Republic because we believe in its legal security, its strategic position, and the quality of its people,” Romero stated.
The president of CLERHP emphasized that the project is not only geared toward the international market of investors and retirees, but also toward Dominican and foreign families, who will find first-class educational, medical, and entertainment services in the city.
A City for the Future
The first phase includes housing, commercial and leisure spaces, in addition to the initial infrastructure for essential services. As development progresses, Larimar City & Resort will include schools, universities, clinics, a hospital, a sports complex, and high-performance areas, thus consolidating itself as a comprehensive city.
Romero explained that the vision is to respond to global trends in urban planning, reducing vehicle dependence and promoting sustainable mobility.
“We want people to be able to walk, enjoy the climate, nature, and have everything they need within the city,” he said.
Dominican Republic, a Strategic Destination
The president of CLERHP asserted that the Dominican Republic is in a privileged position to attract foreign investment in the coming years.
“More than 30 million people will retire in the United States and Canada in the next decade, and the Dominican Republic has the location, air connectivity, and security conditions that these markets are looking for. Few Caribbean nations combine all these advantages at the same time,” he emphasized.
